Hi - I'm Andy Barbirato.
I help engineers lead projects.
I spent the early years of my career on the classic engineers’ path - good at my job, invisible as a leader. Then I burned out from frustration.I used to sit in meetings answering technical questions while watching other people lead discussions. I watched more junior folks get promoted ahead of me, into leading their first projects. My plan to fix that was simple: get better at engineering, and eventually someone would tap me to lead projects. That's not how it works. With the help of some great mentors I learned that there are 2 engineering career paths:Expert OR Project Leader. You can’t walk both at the same time.
And one doesn’t lead to the other.Leadership opportunities don't appear because you're a good engineer. You create them by demonstrating leadership before you have a title.By developing leadership skills, learning to read people, coordinating chaos, and taking initiative without overstepping. Now 10 years later I lead a $500M infrastructure project. Are ready to stop waiting for permission that will never come, and take control of your project leadership career on your terms?
